(2001) has shown that there is arsenic contamination of the Red River alluvial tract in the city of Hanoi and this happens owing to the nature of the subsoil that contains iron. As a solution to this some government-based researches have given the opinion that though the states and USGS have contributed state funds toward the effort, more funds will have to be added both for the maintain ace of the ground water, regulating it and conducting further research. Mapping the entire ground water resources is not a small project and it will take more than 170 years to complete this mapping in 'high-priority areas of the four states.
