Hauenstien

In a world plagued with growing restlessness, stressors and increasing number of psychological disorders an individual's mental health has become a matter of primary importance. Attending counseling sessions and seeing a psychologist have become as normal as visiting a friend or taking a walk. However, the best method of counseling is a question that has lead to extensive debate. The paper will look at the opinions of two leading researchers Hauenstein and Sexton about the use of evidence based intervention.

Emily Hauenstein is a prominent Nurse researcher in USA. She has actively participated in researching the Rural Mental Health care system and along with others, has laid down the foundation for improving Health Care in Rural America. They have devised a theoretical frame work to boost supply of facilities in the rural areas as well. She points out that most patients fearing they have some psychological disorder consult a general physician rather than a psychologist and 40% of such women suffer from severe depression (Hauesnstein, E.J. 2008).

Thomas L. Sexton is a renowned psychologist and has a PhD in Counseling Psychology. He has also written various books related to family therapy and is a leading researcher on the subject of evidence based intervention (Indiana University, 2012).

According to her for improving quality of and access to health care in rural areas, evidence based intervention must be used. It will help improve the image people have of mental health care providers and encourage more people to attend these sessions. The method entails that counselors and psychologists must have a better understanding of the culture of the area, the case history of the individual and must use a counseling method that would be socially acceptable in that area. This is because in most rural communities mental health issues are considered a stigma.

Her research shows that till 2008 the practical application of the method brought.....
