Phyllida Lloyd's film Mamma Mia! can largely be considered to be an attempt to praise the Swedish pop group ABBA, considering the numerous references that the film makes with regard to the band. From the very first moments of the motion picture viewers are provided with a prologue involving the central character, Sophie Sheridan (Amanda Seyfried), as she posts three wedding invitations with ABBA's "I Have a Dream" playing in the background.
