The evidences presented in this regard explain how different studies and research support that obesity can have profound deteriorating psychological effects as well as health effects on children. The changing eating lifestyles leading to increased consumption of fast foods and sodas have contributed greatly in doing so however; children and parents cannot control obesity if it is genetically engineered. Genetics play a role in the bodily structure. If children are obese due to their genetic constitution, reduced consumption of food cannot help however, physical activities such as exercises have greatly shown results in maintaining their weight. Preventive measures can be taken on a broad level to reduce the spread of obesity among children. In this regard, schools can be helpful to plan a balanced diet for children. At lunch, sodas must be banned and replaced with fruit juices or clean water so that children get accustomed to drinking healthy beverages. Providing junk food in lunch should be altered to other healthy dietary plans such as including high amount of protein, vegetables and fruits. Government can play a role in regulating the items sold in restaurants for children. The usage of fat to cook fried items need to be monitored and verified by the government. Some rules and regulations must be made so that children are made to adopt more healthy eating habits than craving for fast food junks and foods enriched with fats. Restaurants for kids must include healthy diet programs and must ban all ingredients that can cause obesity later such as items with excessive sugar, salts and fats. Parents must train their children in this regard, as they are equally responsible for what their child eats and eats not. Their role is important in saving their children from becoming obese. Families should adopt healthy lifestyles by introducing sports, exercises and other types of physical activities among family members. The food market must focus on reducing the salt and sugar content in the food items processed so that children can make less sugar consumption possible.

There are three types of therapies that can be used to treat children with obesity in psychological terms. They include behavioral therapy, cognitive therapy and motivational interviewing. Behavioral therapy implies behavior management, physical and dietary education; programs and training for children to induce healthy eating habits. Cognitive therapy implies positive self-statements, recognizing connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviors whereas motivational interviewing induces directive and collaborative forces. Increasing risks of suicide attempts is an alarming situation and parents must focus on developing the positive attitudes of their children so that they can live as confident, lively and smart individuals in future. Cognitive therapy can play role in identifying these symptoms in child and later alter these thoughts through medications and counseling. Child obesity is growing with the increase in ever changing lifestyles of families and the society. Since it is imposing bad health and psychological effects, the solutions and remedies are beginning to get more complex with the nature of problem. The best solution is to prevent it from the first level when children are trained to eat otherwise in later years the implementation of programs and techniques become difficult for the child itself to work upon.
